JEMBER FASHION FESTIVAL

The annual festival shows alternative fashion designs as well as works by original trendsettters, according to organiser Dynand Fariz.

"It's kind of like Indonesia's Rio de Janeiro Carnival," Dynand told Indonesian travel website IndonesiaLogue.

It was estimated more than 150,000 people turned out to watch the spectacle, which this year included a display by a group from the island of Borneo that was inspired by Kalimantan's exotic wildlife.

The island - Indonesia's largest - is under threat of environmental destruction and the organisers wanted to use the festival to highlight the plight of its animal and plant life.

Come to Jember at 3 August 2008

Washington Apple vs Malang apple?

Whenever in Malang, visit the smaller hill station BATU on the slopes of Mount Arjuna and 15 km North-West of Malang. This friendly hill town is well-known for its apple-prodution, because of the cool temperature.

Batu - Malang offers hotsprings, a variety of sports, rest and relaxation, surrounded by a phantastic vegetable growing area. Some really beautiful views will take your breath and, hiking in Batu see the Gunung Agung, a small still working volcano.

Batu malang is very nice pleasure, you can rent a villa to stay a few day in Batu.

Plaza Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia, the one of glamour shopping area in Indonesia...

Twenty hectares (49 acres) of urban redevelopment project is underway creating a mixed -use complex on the south side of Indonesia’s capital city of Jakarta . Land were procured from the government by way of a 40 - year lease, at the end of which the land and buildings must be returned to the government free of charge, under what is known as a build - operate - transfer (BOT) scheme. Kajima Overseas Asia Pte. Ltd (KOA) began the development in 1989. The Shopping mall opened in 1996, followed by the first office building and twin luxury apartment towers. The project provides a lavish space where visitors can easily stroll through the facilities, escaping the bustle of the capital city.

The unique feature of the project is that Kajima is handling the commercial development as well as the design and construction, and that the project is operated by Kajima’s local subsidiary P.T. Senayan Trikarya Sempana. Kajima’s expertise in a wide range of fields, accumulated over many years, has been harnessed to manage Senayan Square . Today, the development has such a commanding presence in the locality that the word “Senayan” now normally refers to the Shopping Center, Plaza Senayan, rather than the Locality. The quality of Plaza Senayan is amply demonstrated by the numerous specialty shops, including high - end international fashion brand stores found there, and the approximately 15 million visitors per year.

...In December 2005 with the start of construction of a second office tower. The new tower will be 28 stores tall - 10 stories higher than the first and neighboring office tower - with one level below ground. Kajima’s Architectural Design Division produced the basic design, which was finalized by Kajima Design Asia Pte. Ltd. (KDA). P.T. Kajima Indonesia is constructing the new building, which is scheduled for completion in late 2007.

enjoy ur shopping in Jakarta, the heaven of shopping destination in South East Asia...!!!

"MEKARSARI", Bogor, Indonesia. Fruit Garden...,all fruit here just 4 u..:)

The establishment of Mekarsari Fruit Garden represents an important step forward in the development of Indonesia’s commercial fruit industry. First and foremost, the garden is a place where one can find the wealth of Indonesia’s fruit species gathered together in a single location. Among the species are some of the finest varieties collected from the various regions in the archipelago. This unique plant collection constitutes an extremely valuable repository of genetic information relating to the cultivated fruits of Indonesia, thereby conserving the rich natural diversity of the region and safeguarding the nation’s botanical heritage. Mekarsari is also a research centre for scientists, farmers, students, extension specialists, and hobbyist, gathering information on new horticulture technology. Research facilities include a laboratory, greenhouses, nurseries, and a library. Researchers at the garden have identified some promising new fruit varieties with improved qualities, either from natural selection or breeding programs.

New techniques are being developed in cultivating miniature fruit trees in containers to alter the fruiting season, and eventually produce harvest all-year-round. Newly released superior varieties are being disseminated in the form of seedlings and grafted plants to the farmers and fruit growers. The Fruit Garden is conceived also as a tourist attraction; a place to come with the family to admire the fruit collection and ornamental gardens. Leisure facilities include restaurants, shops, fruit stalls, viewing tower, tour ride around the garden, the opportunity to pick your own fruit and vegetables, a lake and water recreations.

Can you speak Tagalog??

The Filipino is basically of Malay stock with a sprinkling of Chinese, American, Spanish, and Arab blood. The Philippines has a population of 76.5 million as of May 2000, and it is hard to distinguish accurately the lines between stocks. From a long history of Western colonial rule, interspersed with the visits of merchants and traders, evolved a people of a unique blend of east and west, both in appearance and culture.

The Filipino character is actually a little bit of all the cultures put together. The bayanihan or spirit of kinship and camaraderie that Filipinos are famous for is said to be taken from Malay forefathers. The close family relations are said to have been inherited from the Chinese. The piousness comes from the Spaniards who introduced Christianity in the 16th century. Hospitality is a common denominator in the Filipino character and this is what distinguishes the Filipino. Filipinos are probably one of the few, if not the only, English-proficient Oriental people today. Pilipino is the official national language, with English considered as the country's unofficial one.

The Filipinos are divided geographically and culturally into regions, and each regional group is recognizable by distinct traits and dialects - the sturdy and frugal llocanos of the north, the industrious Tagalogs of the central plains, the carefree Visayans from the central islands, and the colorful tribesmen and religious Moslems of Mindanao. Tribal communities can be found scattered across the archipelago. The Philippines has more than 111 dialects spoken, owing to the subdivisions of these basic regional and cultural groups.

The country is marked by a true blend of cultures; truly in the Philippines, East meets West. The background of the people is Indonesian and Malay. There are Chinese and Spanish elements as well. The history of American rule and contact with merchants and traders culminated in a unique blend of East and West, both in the appearance and culture of the Filipinos, or people of the Philippines.

Hospitality, a trait displayed by every Filipino, makes these people legendary in Southeast Asia. Seldom can you find such hospitable people who enjoy the company of their Western visitors. Perhaps due to their long association with Spain, Filipinos are emotional and passionate about life in a way that seems more Latin than Asian.

The Spaniards introduced Christianity (the Roman Catholic faith) and succeeded in converting the overwhelming majority of Filipinos. At least 83% of the total population belongs to the Roman Catholic faith.

The American occupation was responsible for teaching the Filipino people the English language. The Philippines is currently the third-largest English speaking country in the world.

Visit Indonesia Year 2008, feel your Indonesian :)

Ministry of Culture and Tourism launched Visit Indonesia Year 2008 on Wednesday, with the main aim of luring up to 7 million foreign tourists and booking US$6.4 billion in foreign exchange income. The government held its first Visit Indonesia program in 1991, which was not particularly successful, increasing the number of foreign tourists by merely 400,000 from the year earlier, according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). BPS data show that in 1991, around 2.5 million foreign tourists visited the country, from 2.1 million in the previous year. (The Jakarta Post)
